Our powder coating metal finish is a free-flowing, dry powder that is applied electrostatically and then cured under heat. The powder can be thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. We apply it to surfaces that need to be tougher than conventional paint, so it leaves a harder surface.
We are a batch powder coater, so we do not use a conveyor line. Instead, we use custom designed racks to hang parts on, which means we can do larger parts, such as large plant decking platforms, stairways, large frames, vehicle frames, and equipment frames. Our oven size is 16’ W x 30’ L x 8’ H.
We remove all oils, lubricants, shop dirt, oxides, fingerprints, and any other contaminants from the surface of the part using our abrasive media blasting.
We apply the powder coating with an electrostatic gun. We then heat the object and the powder melts into a uniform film, when it is cooled it forms a hard coating.
We allow the product to cure on our oven, this process is called crosslinking.
The finished product is placed in our clean room.
There are a multitude of benefits to powder coating, including a quicker curing time and no VOC emissions.
Powder coating also provides a thicker coating than conventional liquid coatings so it will not run or sag like those with liquid carriers and it produces a more even appearance between horizontal and vertically coated surfaces.
